Despite how it is often reported in the media, the foreclosure crisis in the U.S. is not over. Many homeowners are just one paycheck or a major illness away from losing their homes. But in 2011 the Washington State Legislature passed the Foreclosure Fairness Act which requires lenders to notify homeowners, before they initiate foreclosure, that mediation might be an option – and we know that mediation can save a house.

Recently NWCLC Board member Melissa Huelsman spoke with King 5 Investigative Reporter Chris Ingalls about how too few consumers are taking advantage of this important right. Click below to view the video.
